GEHA is monitoring possible government shutdown

GEHA | September 29, 2023

Shutdown resources: GEHA has you covered.

To our members:

We are tracking the potential of a federal government shutdown, starting on Sunday, Oct. 1. We are focused on supporting our member base throughout this event, should it come to pass.

GEHA was founded when a group of Railway Postal Clerks began passing the hat to help one another in times of need. As GEHA has grown to serving more than 2 million members nationwide, we have stayed true to our values. Here is how we are prioritizing your needs:

  • You will have full access to your medical and dental benefits throughout any potential shutdown, including mental health resources through MDLIVE.
  • While this may affect many, this may specifically affect you and your family with unexpected needs from a loss/delay of income. GEHA is working with local and national community organizations to offset the effect of a shutdown, including food banks, diaper distribution centers, community fruit orchards and regional produce gardens.
  • Should a federal government shutdown persist, we will proactively communicate with you on our support of local member communities.

Thank you for your dedication supporting the infrastructure of our nation and for being a GEHA member. As we face the uncertainties brought about by a possible government shutdown, we want you to know that GEHA stands with you.

Having the right information and support can make a difference. Our primary goal is to be there for our members, in fact, it's our #YourFriendInFederal mission. As you may not have access to your work email should a shutdown occur, we encourage you to bookmark our website's home page and follow us on our social media channels.
