Welcome Postal employees and retirees

GEHA is committed to providing you comprehensive coverage.

Thank you for your commitment to the U.S. Postal Service. You might have some questions about your health benefits transition. Well, don't worry. We can help. GEHA is excited to announce our participation in the Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) Program for Open Season 2024 as a conditionally approved carrier.

GEHA was created
by Postal employees like you.

GEHA was founded in Kansas City in 1937 by a group of Railway Post Office employees who passed the hat to help their co-workers in times of need. That idea of caring for one another is still one of our core values, and is reflected in the plans and the care we offer.

We serve our 2 million members through our commitment to service. GEHA is a conditionally approved Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) Program carrier for the 2024 Open Season. We will continue to support all postal employees and retirees through this transition.

Important note: Special enrollment period (SEP) for Postal retirees

If you are an annuitant entitled to Medicare Part A (typically at age 65) as of January 1, 2024, and did not enroll in Medicare Part B, you and your covered, eligible family members may be able to participate in a six-month special enrollment period (SEP) for Medicare Part B that starts on April 1, 2024.

If you are the primary subscriber, your covered family members will not be required to enroll in Medicare Part B to stay on your PSHB plan; however, enrollment in Medicare Part B may reduce your overall costs for health care-related expenses and may provide better value for you and your family. Those who choose to enroll during the SEP aren’t required to pay a late enrollment penalty. The United States Postal Service sent eligibility letters to annuitants and eligible family members in March 2024.
