How G.E.H.A is providing support during the recovery after flash floods

Our hearts go out to those affected by the devastating natural disaster in Central Texas. G.E.H.A is taking immediate steps to support our members and ensure they have access to the care and resources they need in affected locations in the following counties in Central Texas: Bandera, Coke, Comal, Concho, Gillespie, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Reeves, San Saba and Tom Green.

Here’s how we’re assisting:

Prescriptions:

  • G.E.H.A will approve a one-time emergency refill for health plan members in the aforementioned Central Texas counties.
  • Affected members within the emergency area taking specialty medications can contact CVS Caremark at 1-844-443-4279 for alternate delivery arrangements or courier service.

Medical management:

  • Prior authorization requirements are temporarily waived for:
    • Skilled nursing facility stays.
    • Hospital-to-hospital transfers.
    • Oxygen.
  • No late penalties will be applied for any delays in authorization requests.
  • Replacement of durable medical equipment (DME) will be allowed and will not be subject to standard benefit limitations. Coverage may include oxygen equipment, wheelchairs, crutches and testing supplies for people living with diabetes, hypertension or other chronic conditions.

Dental:

  • FEDVIP dental members affected by the natural disaster can use teledentistry.com with waived annual limitations.

Virtual care:

Members of G.E.H.A health plans have access to MDLIVE virtual visits. MDLIVE is offering one no-cost virtual Urgent Care or Behavioral Health visit.

How it works:

For G.E.H.A members:

  • Visit https://mdlive.com/geha-callmd or call 1-888-912-1183 or download the MDLIVE app from the App Store or Google Play to log in or create an account. Individuals may also call the MDLIVE call center at 800-400-MDLIVE (6354) for assistance.
  • Select Urgent Care (on-demand 24/7) or Behavioral Health (by appointment only) and schedule an appointment with a provider.

Enter the promo code "JulyStormsUC" for Urgent Care and/or "JulyStormsBH" for Behavioral Health when presented with payment options to redeem a no-cost visit.

Here are some of the benefits of MDLIVE:

  • Physicians are all board-certified, state-licensed and experienced in delivering high-quality medical care. Consultations are one-on-one and completely private.
  • It’s suitable for the whole family — pediatricians are available.
  • It’s less expensive than in-person urgent care or the emergency room.
  • MDLIVE doctors can treat more than 80 common illnesses and can even send prescriptions to your pharmacy if medically appropriate.
