In 1937, just after the Great Depression, a group of Railway Postal Clerks in Kansas City would pass the hat to help one another in times of need. That small group grew into GEHA (Government Employees Health Association).
GEHA was one of the first carriers to provide plans to federal employees under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Act of 1959. At that time, we expanded our scope to offer medical plans to federal employees and retirees from all agencies and branches of government.
We empower our members to be healthy and well.
Today, GEHA offers one of the largest national medical and one of the largest national dental plans serving federal employees, covering more than 1.8 million federal employees, retirees and their dependents.
We have an impressive nationwide network of doctors, dentists, hospitals and other providers. If you live or travel outside of the United States, your GEHA coverage travels with you.
GEHA is a not-for-profit partner who cares about your health and wellness. From complete maternity care all the way to help for elderly relatives in an emergency, we've designed our benefits to help you at any stage of life.
